CompTIA is developing a new certification known as SecAI+, which is focused on the intersection of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. As part of this initiative, the credentialing organization is calling on working professionals to help shape the exam content by taking part in its beta testing phase.
If you’re selected and pass the beta version of the exam (code: CY1-001), you’ll earn the official SecAI+ certification at no cost. Just note: Since this is a beta, results won’t be released until Spring 2026, when the full exam (CY0-001) officially launches.
What SecAI+ Is All About
SecAI+ is designed to validate practical, real-world knowledge in a rapidly evolving area of AI and cybersecurity. Participants should expect to be tested on topics like:
- Core AI concepts and terminology relevant to cybersecurity,
- Technical controls for protecting AI systems,
- The use of AI to streamline and automate threat detection and response,
- How AI intersects with governance, risk, and compliance on a global level.
Who This Is For
CompTIA is targeting individuals with a minimum of three to four years of IT experience, including at least two years in a cybersecurity-specific role. Familiarity with AI technologies, especially their use in security tools, is also expected.
If you work in any of these roles, you’re likely in the sweet spot for this exam:
- Cybersecurity Analyst
- Cybersecurity Administrator
- Security Engineer or Architect
- Penetration Tester
- Cybersecurity Specialist
How to Participate
To get started, you’ll need to complete a short eligibility questionnaire. If you’re approved, you’ll need to take the beta exam by October 17, 2025 to qualify for the free certification. The beta period officially ends on October 31, 2025.
